"Travel. As much as you can, as far as you can, as long as you can. Life's not meant to be lived in one place."
I have always loved traveling and the adventure that it brings. There is something so exciting about going some place new, whether that be twenty minutes or twenty hours away. I would choose traveling the world over a shopping spree any day (and that is saying a lot). Memories are far more precious and meaningful than anything you can ever buy with the money that you don't have (let's be honest). There are so many places I want to visit but somehow I managed to narrow it down to five.
1. Germany. Although I have technically been to Germany, I have not seen outside the Frankfurt airport. Germany is full of history and beautiful buildings. Traveling to a place where the accents, attitudes, and behavior is different than that of Arkansas is so interesting to me. Also the food: I hear Germany has the best bread in the world. I want to learn what real bread should taste like. Germany has several historical buildings and castles that are beautiful. Who wouldn't want to go visit a castle? Besides pretending to be a Disney princess in a castle, the main reason I would love to go to Germany is to visit all of the Holocaust museums and memorials. There are several concentration camps that I would also love to see. Studying the Holocaust is always something I was interested in, so getting to see where it all happened would be quite the experience. Traveling over to see where Anne Frank and her family hid in the secret annex in the Netherlands would by far be my favorite part. I hope someday to make my way outside of the Frankfurt airport to see all the other things that Germany has to offer (rather than overpriced food in the airport).
2. Aloha! I am sure most people would agree with me on this being one of their places to visit. Hawaii is arguably the most beautiful place in the United States. I love getting the chance to go to the beach in Florida, but getting to dip my feet in the water in that picture would be a dream. Hawaii has the perfect climate with the temperature staying around 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. As you can see, there is some beautiful scenery. You can watch dolphins, swim with sea turtles, or snorkel with all kinds of other marine life. Walking around the volcano is another adventure that Hawaii has to offer. I have also heard that the food, shopping, and nightlife makes going to Hawaii that much better. Even if I have to go alone, I will find my way to Hawaii and enjoy the islands (and the food).
3. Paris, also known as France's capital, is also a place I would love to visit. I have seen so many movies with the famous buildings in it, but I would like to see it for myself. The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre Museum where the Mona Lisa is located (yes I had to look that up) are just a few places I want to see. Another reason I would love to go Paris is that there are several other places in France, around Paris, that are worth traveling to. There is also shopping and fashion everywhere, whether that be going to stores, or getting to see the latest fashion shows. After all, what girl wouldn't want to visit the fashion capital of the world?
4. Although traveling the world and relaxing sounds great: staying at nice hotels, eating good food, and buying clothes. I would rather give up my time to be with those in need. For the past few years I have been dying to go on a mission trip to Africa. I don't know where, or how, or when, but I want to go share the love of Jesus to as many of those adorable people as I can. A short visit for a couple weeks, or a longer one, I know I will find my way over there to love on those people and show them just how much Jesus loves them too. Honestly, how could you not love that face?
5. Okay, so technically I have already been to this place, four times, but it is still a place I want to visit. India has become my second home. Every year since 2012 I have gone to India for a couple weeks to share the love of Jesus. The people of India are the kindest, most generous, and happiest people I have ever met. They are continually offering tea, coffee, or a chair to sit on (so they end up sitting on floor). It is so special getting to tell them the story of the Bible, how God loved them so much that he sent his one and only son to die so their sins could be forgiven. Seeing their faces when they realize he is a loving God, and they do not constantly have to fear Him (like they do with their gods in Hinduism) is incredible. Although the food is not my favorite and I tend to go when it is entirely too hot, I would go back again and again just to see their happy faces.
"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
I have been very fortunate to have parents who also love traveling, so I have been to quite a few places already. India, Belize, Florida, New York, and California are just a few of my favorite places that I have been thus far. Seeing pictures are great, but experiencing the real thing is far better, more magical.
