Valentine's Day is all about spending time with who you love. It is one of my favorite days. Tyler and I have spent the last two Valentine's Days together. Both times we went out to have a nice dinner and then head to the movies (Tyler loves going to the theater). This year we decided to mix things up and stay at home this year. I thought I would share a few date night ideas at home.
1. Go half & half on the meal. One of you make the dinner, one make the dessert. After the meal, you can both decide on the entertainment. It's a fun way to surprise each other and get to spend the night together too.
2. Game night and takeout. Tyler and I love playing board and card games. We are both super competitive but it's all in good fun (usually). Sometimes it's fun to sit back and just play games like you used to when you were younger. Game night and takeout sounds like a fun night.
3. Cook dinner together. Pick out a recipe, shop for the ingredients together, and cook together. Grab a drink that goes well with what you are cooking. Also, don't forget the dessert.
4. Have a movie marathon. Tyler and I are always saying, "I have been wanting to watch this". Head to the Redbox or Movietown (as Tyler insists) and rent movies that the two of you have been wanting to see. After, head to the dollar store and get your favorite candy and don't forget the popcorn!
5. Indoor picnic. Change things up and have a picnic inside. Lay down a cloth and decorate as much as you want. A candlelit picnic sounds pretty romantic to me.
6. Fancy setup for dinner. Break out all the best. Use your fancy dinnerware, candles, and tablecloth. Dress up like you were going out to a nice restaurant. Don't forget the dessert.
7. Make a fort. Surely you know what a fort is. Take your mattress and pull it in the living room. Get all your blankets and sheets a build a fort over the mattress. Grab takeout and enjoy a movie in your fort.
8. Takeout restaurant hoping. Do you ever crave an appetizer from one place, but want a different main course meal from somewhere else? Wait, don't forget about the dessert from that one restaurant. This takes a little more effort, but that is a perfect meal.
If you were wanting something a little different this year try an at home date. Regardless of what you do, just spend it with the person you love.
Happy Valentine's Day friends,
