I feel like this is the number one question that people ask. We are always wanting recommendations on what to watch next. I have watched lots of shows and movies on Netflix so I thought I would share. I also hope this brings in more recommendations that I can watch and add to the list. To keep this post from being incredibly long I will try my best to give a one sentence synopsis of each (thank you Wikipedia and IMDb for the help).
TV SHOW
Drama
Ozark-Financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss.
YOU-Based on a novel, the show follows Joe, a New York bookstore manager, who falls in love with Beck. He quickly becomes obsessed with her. Y'all, I don't think obsessed is even the appropriate term. Major cliff hanger at the end of the season. Season 2 just came out and is just as crazy as the first.
Dynasty- Follows two of America's wealthiest families as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.
Riverdale-Teen drama which involves love, mystery, and all things drama. Riverdale is a small town that is full of darkness bubbling beneath the perfect small town facade. Three seasons of Riverdale, all so good!
13 Reasons Why-Follows Clay Jensen in his quest to uncover the story behind his classmate (and crush), Hannah, and her decision to end her life. This is a controversial show and definitely not for everyone.
Pretty Little Liars- Four friends band together against an anonymous foe who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets, while also investigating the disappearance of their best friend.
Gossip Girl- Privileged teens living on the Upper East Side of New York can hide no secret from the ruthless blogger who is always watching.
Somewhere Between-A local news producer is given one chance to relive a deadly week and stop a serial killer. If she fails, she will lose her daughter forever.
Black Mirror-This is more of a Sci-Fi in my opinion and one of the hardest shows to explain. According to IMDb, it is a series exploring a twisted, high-tech world where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. This is a fascinating show but not my favorite by any means.
Girlboss- Inspired by Sophia Amoruso's best-selling book, this series follows the rise of Amoruso's multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal. Britt Robertson plays the starring role of Sophia, a rebellious, broke anarchist who decides to start selling vintage clothing online. As her passion -- and retail fashion empire -- begins to grow, Sophia unexpectedly becomes a businesswoman, who starts realize the value (and difficulties) of being the boss of her own life. This is a show that you can watch while you do other things.
Good Girls- Three suburban mothers suddenly find themselves in desperate circumstances and decide to stop playing it safe and risk everything to take their power back.
Umbrella Academy- On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world. It is a superhero type show, but so fun and full of drama.
Love Is Blind-If you need a Bachelor fix, this is a great option. Singles try to find a match and fall in love without ever seeing each other. The drama is a bit much, but it was sueper entertaining.
Suspense/Crime
The Haunting of Hill House-Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their childhood home and the terrifying events that drove them from it. This show is a little freaky, so don't watch this alone!
Making a Murderer-Season 1 was filmed over a 10-year period. It follows Steven Avery, a DNA exonerate who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a new crime. The second season follows his postconvinction lawyer and was so interesting to see the behind the scenes.
Scandal- A former White House Communications Director starts her own crisis management firm. Full of secrets, drama, and love.
Seven Seconds-This mini-series tells the story of an African American boy who was critically injured by a cop. I smell a cover-up!
Cold Justice- Unsolved murder cases that have gone cold are reopened by a squad of real-life detectives and investigators, led by veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler.
How to Get Away with Murder-A group of ambitious law students and their brilliant criminal defense professor become involved in a twisted murder plot that changes the course of their lives. This a must watch for sure!
Mindhunter-This is set in the late 1970's. It follows two FBI agents that interview serial killers to solve open cases.
Blacklist-A new FBI profiler, Elizabeth, has her entire life turned upside down when a wanted criminal, Raymond Reddington, who has turned himself in and insists on speaking only to her.
The Sinner- This show examines how and why ordinary people commit brutal murders. Jessica Biel is fabulous in this show!
American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson- A documentary in some sense. This tells the story of none other than OJ Simpson.
Dirty John- Businesswoman Debra's life unravels when she falls for the lies and manipulation of con man John Meehan. Based on the true-crime podcast.
Feel Good
Queer Eye- A new Fab Five set out to Atlanta to help the city's straight men refine their wardrobes, grooming, diet, cultural pursuits, and home décor.

MOVIE
Teen Romance
To All The Boys I've Loved Before- First off, read the books! This movie is about a teenage girl's secret love letters are exposed and wreak havoc on her love life. It is so good and the cutest little movie!
P.S. I Still Love You- This is the second movie in the series To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Lara Jean reunites with another recipient of one of her old love letters.
The Kissing Booth- A high school student is forced to confront her secret crush at a kissing booth. Oh my gosh, the cutest movie ever! All about love and friendship! Second one on the way!
The Perfect Date- A high school student creates an app to offer his services as a fake date to make money for college. When he develops feelings for someone, his plan gets complicated.
A Cinderella Story- Such a classic of circa 2004 with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Exploited by her wicked stepmother, Sam Montgomery is excited about the prospect of meeting her Internet beau at the school's Halloween dance.
Romance

The Spectacular Now- A hard-partying high school senior's philosophy on life changes when he meets the not-so-typical "nice girl." I am kind of obsessed with Miles Teller as an actor.
Irreplaceable You- A couple who have known each other since 8 are destined to be together until death do them apart. All the emotions, all the tears.
P.S. I Love You- A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. No tears left to cry after this movie.
Romantic Comedy
Set It Up- Two corporate executive assistants hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses.
When We First Met-Noah meets Avery at a Halloween party and falls in love but gets friend-zoned. 3 years later she's engaged to someone else. Noah uses the photo booth time machine several times to return and fix things. The real questions is, does it work?!
Sierra Burgess is a Loser- A case of mistaken identity results in unexpected romance when the most popular girl in high school and the biggest loser must come together to win over their crushes. Noah Centineo (same guy as To All The Boys I've Loved Before) is the main reason I like this movie so much!
Silver Linings Playbook- After time in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.
Definitely, Maybe- A political consultant tries to explain his impending divorce and past relationships to his 11-year-old daughter. Two words, Ryan Reynolds!

Like Father- Left at the altar, a young executive takes her Caribbean honeymoon cruise with the last person she ever expected-her estranged father. Although they depart as strangers, they soon gain a new appreciation for love, life, family and each other.
Step Brothers- This is a straight up comedy that needs no introduction starring Will Ferrell and John Reilly.
Musicals
Hairspray- Also a great musical. I mean, John Travolta, dressed as a woman and Zac Efron is the perfect combo!
Mamma Mia- The musical of all musicals.
Burlesque- Ali (Christina Aguilera) follows her dreams to Los Angeles. She lands a job as a cocktail waitress at a burlesque longue where Tess (aka Cher) is the leader. This is a fabulous movie and so fun.
Documentary
Abducted in Plain Sight- The twisting, turning, stranger-than-fiction true story of the Brobergs, a naive, church-going Idaho family that fell under the spell of a sociopathic neighbor with designs on their twelve-year-old daughter. This will leave you baffled.
The Innocent Man- The story of Ron Williamson, a man who sat on Oklahoma's death row for 11 years for a crime he didn't commit. Based on John Grisham's "The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town." Again, you will be baffled.
The Staircase- The high-profile murder trial of American novelist Michael Peterson following the death of his wife in 2001. I will admit this is my least favorite on the documentary list.
The Confession Tapes- A look into some true crime cases where American law enforcement made up for lack of actual physical evidence by using devious psychological tactics during interrogation in order to extract confessions from naive suspects. That was according to IMDb. I would just say it's interest to see how easy it is to be manipulated to confessing.
The Keepers- An unsolved murder of a nun and the horrific secrets and pain that linger nearly five decades after her death. This is a must!
